SOP football competitions enter quarterfinals

Doha, February 28, 2019. Aspire stadiums hosted SOP football competitions of the third level for public and private schools. The competitions were held for boys born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and were attended by large number of students and school officials, as well as different clubs’ representatives who monitor young talents for their future role as part of their teams.

The quarterfinal qualifyiers in the event for public schools were the teams of Abdullah bin Ali Al-Misnad school, the Religious Institute, Abu Obaidah, Ali Bin Abi Talib; in the private school event Bhavan Public School (Al Wakra), Micheal E. DeBakey School, Cambridge and the Sudanese school – proceeded to the next round.

In group A Hamza Bin Abdul Muttalib and Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Misnad played a 1:1 draw; the Religious Institute won over Al-Ahnaf Bin Qais school 2:0. Al-Ahnaf Bin Qais’s team lost their second match to Hamza Bin Abdul Mutallib with a score of 3:0. Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Misnad defeated the team of the Religious Institute scoring 2:0, while the latter lost their match to Hamza bin Abdul Mutallib 1:0. In the last game within this group, Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Misnad’s team defeated Al-Ahnaf Bin Qais with a score of 2:0. Teams of Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Misnad and the Religious Institute did it to the quarterfinals.

In group B in the public school event  the team of Abu Obaida preparatory school beat the team of Ali Bin Abi Talib school 5:1. The Khalid Bin Ahmed School team won over the Al Imam Al Shafei school team scoring 2:0. In the third game Ali Bin Abi Talib team won Khalid Bin Ahmed School 2:0, while the team of Abu Obaida school won over the team of Al Imam Al Shafei 1:0. The teams of Ali Bin Abi Talib and Al Imam Al Shafie drew 2:2. Yesterday’s last match saw the teams of Abu Obaida and Khalid Bin Ahmed scored no goals during their match. The Abu Obaida and Ali Bin Abi Talib teams qualified for the quarterfinals.

In private school event for the same, preparatory level, group A saw the team of Bhavan Al-Wakra and the Arab International Academy  played a 1:1 draw; the Bhavan’s team won over the Micheal E. DeBakey School 1:0, while Micheal E. DeBakey School scored two winning goals to the Arab International Academy. Team of Bhavan’s School (Al Wakra) and Micheal E. DeBakey School progressed to the quarterfinals.

In group B the match beween the Cambridge team and the Doha Academy ended with no goals. The Sudanese school team won the Doha Academy 1:0. The Cambridge school team defeated Sudanese school 2:1. With these results teams of the Cambridge and Sudanese schools qualified for the quarterfinals.
