Girls` SOP competitions are of great interest
Girls’ school competitions within the 12th SOP edition have attracted great attention of the SOP Organizing Committee to all the competitions held so far in basketball, handball, volleyball and tennis. The SOP technical committee not only highly appraised technical skills of athletes, but also admitted a healthy competitive spirit that permeated the competition venues.
The technical and administrative school staff urged to continue trainings at physical education lessons according to the school schedule, what will make next SOP edition more intense. For his part, Ali Al-Hitmi, Deputy Director of the Schools Olympic Program Organizing Committee, said that the Program had already discovered many talented players who would contribute significantly to sport in Qatar generally, and women’s sport in particular.
He also added: «Each year, School Olympic Program does help us to discover many talented female players and now it has become the main resource we rely on. It has saved us plenty of time and made the selection process much easier.»
He continued: «This year the total number of girls` schools participating in sports events has reached 165 primary schools, 106 preparatory and 74 secondary schools. The competitions came out as needed, reflecting truly honest, competitive spirit between the participating girls` teams.» He also pointed out good organization level of current SOP edition, what confirms the great interest of all people involved in the sport development in general, and women sport in particular.
