Curtains come down on football competitions at SOP
Doha, March 22. The Palestinian School has won the first place and gold medals in the SOP secondary school football competitions after beating the Tunisian school with a score of 1:0 yesterday at the Aspire Academy Indoor Stadium. The third place went to the Blyth Academy’s team.
HE Rabia Mohammed Al Kaabi, QSSA President, and Ali Al Hitmi, QSSA Secretary-General and Saeed Al-Marri, Director of Football Affairs at Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence, awarded medals to three best teams. Those present also included representatives from SOP and the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence: Badr Al Hay, Director of Education and Student Care at Aspire Academy and Dr. Salah Salem, SOP Technical Expert.
This tough final match revealed many promising talents. The Palestinian school team with Imar Yasser scoring one winning goal managed to beat the Tunisian school. Another this match star was a goalkeeper of the Palestinian school who saved his team many times.
Referee team was composed by Saadoun Ahmed, Tamer Abu Bakr and Youssef Al-Haddad, while Abdel-Fattah Al-Khatib and Nasser Sadiq coordinated the match .
The Palestinian School team, headed by Azaz Mohammed, comprised of Tamim Amr, Ghaith Asad, Abdel Rahman Rabah, Jassim Da’an, Hussein Gadaan, Usama Beshtawi, Emad Yasser, Ahmed Taha, Mohamed Abdel Kader, Khaled Al-Zarri, Ahmed Emad, Issa Yasser and Musa Al-Mousi.
The Tunisian School team, headed by Bilal Al-Ayadi, consisted of Iskander Farag, Firas Fatnas, Firas Munder, Hossam El-Tunisi, Malik Haula, Moath Allalou, Adem Ben Hamida, Youssef Al-Kafi, Omar Belhaj, Hazem Al-Khulaifi, Ramzi Al-Khulaifi, Marwan Bianki and Mafarib Kassis.
HE Rabia Al-Kaabi, QSSA President, praised the high level of the final match for secondary schools: «I think everyone enjoyed high-level performance showed by all the players; also the match revealed many promising future talents». Apart from high technical level demonstrated by both teams QSSA president also mentioned the positive atmosphere of the game.
HE Rabia Al-Kaabi also added: «We are all pleased with what we have seen during the SOP final competitions in swimming, taekwondo, shooting and athletics».
Sadeed Al-Marri admitted that the game helped to spot young talented players. He also praised the beneficial coopetation of the Aspire Academy with QSSA and Qatar Olympic Committee.
On behalf of the Palestinian and Tunusian schools, principals expressed thier sincere gratitute to the SOP and admitted that all the competitions were organized at a very high level.

The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF) and Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with hundreds of student athletes competing from all over Qatar.
The SOP committee aims to spread a culture of sports throughout Qatar’s schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
